Women at Golf
I was looking to making a stylistic shift from the Skiff Series and found a book on the birth of cubism. This painting is based on "Women of the Range" which is a figurative abstraction as opposed to the still lifes and portraits that the cubists used in the early analytical cubist paintings. I adopted Braque's typical palette of raw sienna, white, grey and black. I added a few touches of yellow and red. This is one of my favorite paintings...so much so I had fabric made from the image. It is finished in black on the sides and is signed on the reverse.
