Disasters Averted (2021)
The island we live on has been threatened by three hurricanes in the last few years after going 60 years with no hurricane activity. The background is painted in oils with a kite shaped multi-colored center piece on a white field. Charcoal drawings circle the central image, swirling and representing the circular wind rotation of the storm. There are silver spray-painted dots on the lower right representing the torrential rain. Affixed to this are collage elements representing the aspects of life on the island. The title refers to the island having survived. We cleaned up and went back to living. The collage is varnished. The sides are finished in a red-brown. It is signed on the front and reverse.
