"Under the Blazing Island Sun" is an oil painting on canvas that is abstract with figurative elements. The techniques used in producing the work include multiple layers of paint starting with five painted golfers then obscured by a diluted wash of Naples yellow. A coat of clear shellac was applied before distressing the surface with molding paste and sand. At this point the abstract elements were added via brush, palette knife and cloth. The inspirations were women golfers and the hot, hot summer we experienced this summer.

The painting is finished on the sides and hanging materials are included.
